Lauren Ambrose actress, who last appeared on Broadway in the starry revival of Exit the King, will headline the upcoming production of the Bartlett Sher-directed revival of Funny Girl, according to a Jaki’s Buzz www.JakisBuzz.com source. The news is not yet official but we did get buzzed into this comment from our source. “This is more of a ‘rebirth’ than a remake according to some.” We know talented Lauren Ambrose will make the role her own! Our own Jaki Valensi-Lauper met Lauren and had photos taken with her at a recent Anne Garland www.annegarlandenterprises.com event.
Funny Girl is scheduled to begin performances Jan. 15, 2012, at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles. On June 7, the creative team announced the launch of an online casting search for an actress to play the role of Fanny Brice, but said that it would not preclude them from seeking out established names to tackle the iconic role, which has become synonymous with original star Barbra Streisand.
